Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
This mod is compatible ONLY with the Ultimate Collection
If you use the standard (CD/DVD) game version please download the AGS v. 2.1.x

Though some testing has been done, this tool is a BETA VERSION
which means that it may not working perfectly. In case of problems, uninstall the AnyGameStarter and
restore the game via Origin (your main savegame will be preserved).

Build your game (and BodyShop!) the way you want it
for testing purposes or nostalgic pleasure!

This AGS version is compatible only with the Ultimate Collection downloaded via Origin.
If you use any "Ultimate Collection" NOT from Origin, try using the AGS v. 2.1.1.

The installer has been tested under Windows 10 (32bit and 64bit)
(but should work fine with any older Windows version down to XP)
and must be run under an administrator account.

The usage of this tool has not changed, compared to the "old" Version 2.1.1; therefore you can refer to the AGS 2.1.1 instructions page.

The only DIFFERENCES with the old 2.1.1 are the following:
  • The Mansion&Garden SP is always included in the mini-game configuration; this is due to the peculiar structure of the Ultimate Collection, that contains only one executable (Sims2EP9.exe) that came with the M&G stuff pack. In the EP/SP list, the M&G option is always selected (if you deselect it, M&G will be included anyway).

  • This new AGS allows new and greater screen resolutions for the mini-game; in order to use these resolutions, some users may need to fix the issue with the Ultimate Collection not recognizing the latest video cards.

I would like to thank maybesomethingdunno for asking me to update the AGS; it's been fun and somewhat heartwarming to come back to the Sims 2 modding for a short while
Please consider that I'm still retired from modding: I'll keep an eye on the new AGS 2.2 thread in order to solve the possible problems with it, but please don't rely on an immediate response from me.
Many thanks also to gdayars (and maybesomethingdunno himself) for testing the AGS for me.

@Diovanlestat - I really don't know what's happening. The log file tells me that everything is perfectly fine, except that the game starts and then immediately stops after few seconds. I have no idea why the game stops so early. You have the correct folders in your computer, and the registry is correctly managed by the AGS.
Have you copied anything in the Downloads folder of the AnyGameStarter1 game?
I see from the log that you created a "mini-game" containing all the EP and SP; have you tried creating a game with only Mansion & Garden?

P.S. Are you running the game and the AGS with an administrator account?

I've finally started my Journal. Information only, no questions.

My latest activity: CEP 9.2.0! - AnyGameStarter 2.1.1 (UPD) - Scriptorium v.2.2f - Photo & Plaques hide with walls - Magazine Rack (UPD) - Animated Windows Hack (UPD) - Custom Instrument Hack (UPD) - Drivable Cars Without Nightlife (UPD) - Courtesy Lights (FIX) - Custom Fence-Arches - Painting-TV - Smarter Lights (UPD)

I *DON'T* accept requests, sorry.

This doesn't bother me and if it's only happening for me I don't care, but I have what is supposed to only be the base game and M&G but the Holiday Stuff is also included (Make the holiday cookies, throw a New Year Party). I'm playing with the language set as German so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.

EDIT to say that I really appreciate this being available to the UC. My desktop broke so I'm playing on a laptop so being able to only install the basegame plus M&G makes the game run much smoother.

For others on Windows 7, remember that Windows 7 is really, really stupid about trying to 'fix' things for you. Every third or fourth time I run an AGS, the operating system decides that the 'Documents' should point to just the AGS, instead of the entire 'My Documents'. At this point, nothing but the one AGS game that's now visible in 'Documents' will run, AGS can't find 'My Documents' to make new games, Sims 2 itself can't find the main game, SimPE can't find the game, HoodChecker hangs and crashes . . . (I haven't tried HoodReplace, Delphy's Download Organizer, LotAdjuster lately, but I'd assume they'd have the same problem finding where the heck the game went.)

It isn't every time, it's just enough of the time. I usually figure out it happened again when HoodChecker crashes, because I'm kind of obsessed with running it between every play session.

To fix this, open 'Documents', tell it to remove the location that's there, and then tell it to put in the whole 'My Documents' location.

This will also make it possible to run SimPE and HoodChecker again.

At least Windows 7 plays nicely with Sims 2 otherwise!

Thanks Numenor for having a look at more code. I'm glad to know it's not AGS. It's my set it, I got a confused network.
